Notice CP575
Your new EIN
Confirmation that the IRS assigned an Employer Identification Number to your business, trust or estate.
Also called: Letter 147C
What it means
Your EIN is your business's tax ID, like a Social Security number for the company. Banks, payment platforms and clients ask for it. The CP575 is sent once. If you lose it, call the IRS Business and Specialty Tax Line and ask for Letter 147C, a replacement confirmation.
What to do
- Save a copy with your formation documents.
- Check that the name and entity type are correct.
- For a foreign-owned single-member LLC: having an EIN is what makes the Form 5472 filing possible, and required every year with transactions.

Is it really from the IRS?
The IRS starts contact by mail. A real notice has a notice number and your tax year, and you can see it, with any balance, in your IRS online account. The IRS never demands payment by gift card, crypto or wire transfer, and never threatens arrest. If in doubt, call the IRS using a number from IRS.gov, not one from the letter.
The law behind it
Free help
The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent part of the IRS that helps when a problem isn't being resolved (Form 911, or 877-777-4778). Low Income Taxpayer Clinics represent people for free or a small fee, many in Spanish and other languages.
